2nd B have been celebrating the Chinese New Year: Year of the Pig. We have read books, designed “hidden pig” pictures and practiced writing our names in Chinese characters, among other activities.
Alexandra dressed in traditional Chinese costume this week to celebrate Chinese New Year. Her Dad is originally from China. She used a piece of red material to make the flag of China and she sewed on the yellow stars using her own sewing machine at home! Alexandra visited other classrooms and teachers during the week to show her traditional dress, and was accompanied by her friend, Anna.
Esme made a wonderful Chinese dragon out of paper hats from Christmas crackers. She added post-its, pipe-cleaners, feathers and jewels to her very colourful and beautiful creation!
